Kerr Creek Road is undergoing a re-paving.  We rode this Sunday 10/4 and the outbound lane is fresh pavement all the way to Gettys Creek.

HWY 45 has significant sections of fresh pavement beyond New Unionville...although I'm not sure it was needed...but it was smooth...and fast.

Old37 is fine apparently but Bottom is a mess all the way along
(according to Adam Rodkey). Another thing to note is that there are big
big holes at the base of Sample hill leading to old37. Spread the word
as they could cause big problems if hit at 35mph+.

This local race is a great evening downtown crit with many spectators.  This year's race is coordinated with the "Taste of Bloomington" and "Art on the Square"...spectater turnout should be huge.  Invite family and friends.  MTVelo will be staged at the corner of Kirkwood and Grant.

The Coach Hep Indiana Cancer Challenge is this Saturday, May 10th, and there is a $35 dollar registration fee...it will offer a 40k route and a 100k route.
Registration for the riders is from 7am-9:30am and they will begin the ride anytime between 8:30am-9:30am. You can check out the website at www.coachhepcancerchallenge.org for more information. It would be great if you spread the word.

Team meeting Wednesday April 23 at 8:30pm at Revolution Bike and Bean.  We will be handing out kits and Team ID/Discount Cards.  Be prepared to change into you kits as we will be taking a team picture.

Proctor Cycling Classic Re-Cap As Tom reported, it was a very sad time in Peoria this weekend.  We did still end up with some great team results, so I'll fill you in on those.  Scott McClary dominated the Juniors 10-14 category, winning the prologue, road race, and criterium!   Tom Cox got 7th in a huge sprint finish in the Pro/1/2 road race, and Erik Hamilton came in 31st.  Erik was very active in the crit (though I don't know how he finished), and Alex Bishop and Tom finished 25th & 28th in the sprint.  For the Women's 4, Katie Haft got 9th place in the road race and an impressive 3rd in the crit.  The Women's 1/2 was run with the Women's 3 but scored separately.  That didn't stop Emily Morris from working with her teammates who were all 3's, though!  She was active from the start of both races.  She, Julie Panzica, and I attacked and chased down attacks throughout the road race, and Kendi won the sprint, and then Julie and I came in 7th and 9th.  (She placed second in the prologue the day before.)  Emily got 5th for the 1/2's.  We started attacking early in the crit, and Kendi's attack stuck.  She stayed away for the rest of the race, giving her the win in the crit and the omnium!  Julie and I finished 10th & 9th, and Emily got 5th again (I think) in the 1/2's.  Charlie McClary joined the Men's Masters 40+ field in the prologue and the road race for his first non-mountain bike races of the year, and Robert Iannello did the Men's 5 road race and crit for his first races ever!  Clayton Feldman captured the King of the Hill title in Men's 4 road race and rode very aggressively in the crit.  And of course, Ryan Oilar deserves special recognition for driving the huge RV from Indy to Peoria and back!  If I left anyone out, please fill in the details!

I hope the race season is going well for everyone so far and good luck to those of you racing this weekend. For those of you that don’t know me, my name is Tracie Morris and I’ve raced for the past 10 years. I graduated from IU in ’94 and rode Little 500 for Alpha Gamma Delta. Most of you are aware that my fiancé, Bret Neylon, was seriously injured at the end of bike race last summer leaving him paralyzed from the shoulders down. Bret is doing remarkably well thanks to the help of thousands of people during the past year. He is nearing the end of the high school track season with state finals next week in Bloomington after which he’ll begin preparing for his return to teaching in the fall.

Last summer, the Brownsburg Community and hundreds of friends, family, co-workers, and teammates helped organize a 5K walk and run in Brownsburg (west side of Indianapolis) to raise funds to assist in paying Bret’s medical costs. Organizers are busy preparing for the 2nd Annual Bret Neylon Walk & Run to be held on July 28th.  All entry fees will be tax deductible this year with the proceeds going to the National Transplant Assistance Fund where Bret has an account established to assist in covering expenses that are not covered by other means.

If anyone is interested in volunteering the day the of the race (July 28th) to assist with registration, traffic, and other logistics, please let me know. Volunteers will get a free t-shirt and lunch.

Bret and I plan to make it to at least a few races this summer, so we’ll hope to see you there.
